Requirement
Wonderstar, founded in 2010 in Thailand, is dedicated to bringing safety, quality, and good design to parents around the world. They manufacture feeding bottles, food storage containers, utensils, pacifiers, and teether toys.
Alongside functionality testing, such as activation or opening force, there is a critical need for safety. Products must meet stringent industry standards for mechanical strength, puncture, and burst resistance. Wonderstar sought an in-house capability to perform repeatable puncture resistance tests, ensuring that items retain their integrity under stress and maintain brand reputation in domestic and export markets.
Solution
Mecmesin Asia provided a MultiTest 2.5-dV motorized force test stand paired with an Advanced Force Gauge, offering compatibility with a variety of probe types. For touchscreen operation, the Vector Force Gauge (VFG) provides an intuitive interface suitable for small-scale compression and puncture tests.
A medium-capacity vice fixture mounted on the anvil plate secures specimens of varying sizes and shapes, typical of nursery products. Rubber-faced jaws hold low-friction plastic or silicone components firmly without causing damage.
In puncture resistance testing, a 1 mm diameter needle-profile probe compresses the sample to detect any leakage or failure, replicating forces that may be applied during use by children. This process confirms that brightly colored, novelty products remain durable and safe, even under bite or stress.
The MultiTest dV range combines precision displacement control with repeatable force measurement, making it ideal for safety testing of small, delicate plastic parts.
